What happens at the end of Andor season 1?

Alright, at the end of Andor, the protagonist managed to dodge everyone who put a target on his back and save his friends. However, it was clear that Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård) would not let the hero roam the galaxy free for long.

So, after leaving his friends in safety, Andor, instead of running away, surprises and goes to Luthen’s ship, but not to kill him. On the contrary, the character surrenders so that Luthen can choose what to do with him: kill him or take him in.

A decision that is justified when the narrative shows us the last message from Maarva, Andor’s adoptive mother, who talks about hope and rebellion. The idea is finally captured by the protagonist, who seems to become aware of his mother’s legacy and what the people of Ferrix really stand for.

But Andor’s maturation goes beyond the inspiring ideas cultivated by Maarva. It is possible to see how he, despite trying to isolate himself and not wanting to connect with anyone, understands that the injustices of the Empire cause him and others a lot of pain. Which, fatally, brings him closer to his peers.

The last episode of Andor, so it’s about making the transition that Cassian needed. Now, he goes from a selfish thief to a true Rebel who fights for the greater good.

Now, we can only wait for season 2 of Andorwhich should debut only in 2024 on Disney +.
