AMD, the Radeon RX 6×50 arrives. Some news, higher prices

As previously assumed , AMD has further expanded the family of Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards : in the past few hours it has presented three new models, which we can in fact define upgrades of existing units with some improvements, such as higher clock rates and more bandwidth for the memory. Among others there is the new top of the range Radeon RX 6950 XT , which then dethrones the RX 6900 XT as the most powerful AMD video card ever made. Below we schematically summarize the details of the three new cards highlighting the improvements compared to their respective original models.

  • Radeon RX 6950 XT . Clocks of 2,100 (game) /2,310 (boost) MHz compared to 2,015 / 2,250 MHz on the RX 6900 XT. The memory goes from 16 to 18 Gbps, so the bandwidth rises from 512 GBps to 576 GBps.
  • Radeon RX 6750 XT . Clocked at 2,495 (game) /2,600 (boost) MHz compared to 2,424 / 2,581 MHz on the RX 6700 XT. Here, too, the memory goes from 16 to 18 Gbps, so the bandwidth rises from 384 GBps to 432 GBps.
  • Radeon RX 6650 XT . Clocks of 2,410 (game) /2,635 (boost) MHz compared to the RX 6600 XT’s 2,359 / 2,589 MHz. The memory goes from 16 to 17.5 Gbps, so the bandwidth rises from 256 GBps to 280 GBps.

Radeon RX 6x50

The GPUs are indicated to offer maximum performance in 4K UHD, 2K QHD and 1K FHD respectively . As AMD’s own slides show, the performance gains over the starting models aren’t exactly impressive – a quick estimate could indicate an average + 5% in the benchmarks of various games. An increase that you pay for, unfortunately: in the US the RX 6950 XT costs $ 100 more than the 6900, the 6750 XT 70 more than the 6700 XT and the 6650 XT 30 more than the 6600 XT.

Only the Radeon RX 6950 XT and the Radeon RX 6750 XT are freely available; the 6650 XT will only be available to OEMs. Both have already been posted on AMD’s official web shop; for Italy , the RX 6950 XT costs € 1,280.81 , while the RX 6750 XT costs € 639.82 . Only the first is currently available, the 6750 is sold out.

At the same time, AMD announces the first games that support FidelityFX 2.0, the next generation super sampling algorithm presented a few weeks ago. It will start with Arkane Studios’ Deathloop, with an update that will be released on May 12; then a list of games on which it will arrive was indicated, without further details on the timing. We report:
