For Abbey (37) and Peter Crouch (42), it was a big shock! The former English footballer and his wife have been married for 12 years. The moderator and her husband are now happy parents of four. The couple will definitely not be bored with their offspring – but they also have to deal with a few moments of concern: Abbey and Peter’s eldest daughter Sophia had to be taken to the hospital while on vacation!
In their podcast “The Therapy Crouch”, the ex-kicker and his loved one talked about their past vacation in Portugal, where they could do anything but relax: their twelve-year-old girl suffered from meningitis – her brain and spinal cord membranes had become inflamed. Therefore, the couple decided to take Sophia to the nearest hospital at one o’clock in the morning on a Sunday. “That was the worst thing that could happen. Being in a strange hospital, with language barriers, words like meningitis, lumbar puncture, brain scan…” the mother recalled.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, their three-year-old son, Jack, started coughing back at their lodging. “When he started coughing we felt like we had to take him [to the hospital] too,” explained the former footballer. “I’ve never been so scared in my life,” admitted the 37-year-old. But now everyone is fine again.
