A new sheriff has arrived in the middle category

Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, which, based on previous practice, would assume that there was already a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 and a Gen 2, but there was not. From now on, Qualcomm will no longer mark minor modifications or improvements on a given chipset with the plus sign, but the set at the top of its category will receive the distinguishing mark. So no one slept through a generation and a half, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is indeed followed by the 7+ Gen 2.

In terms of specifications, the new upper mid-range set is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 with slightly more modest clocks, and as such, it is the first chip in the category that works with a Cortex-X2 performance core, in this case at 2.91 GHz. This is supported by three Cortex-710 cores clocked at 2.49 GHz, and the army is powered by four 1.8 GHz Cortex-510s. This results in a 50% increase in performance compared to 7 Gen 1, with an outstanding result in the category in the AnTuTu test, but the only thing we know about the GPU is that it is an Adreno that is twice as fast as the one used in the previous generation, and 13% more energy efficient can show an advantage.
