6 cell phones with contactless payment for up to BRL 1,500

Perhaps you have already seen someone bringing their cell phone closer to the machine when paying for a purchase in physical stores. This is possible thanks to the NFC connection present in the devices and, currently, many smartphones have this feature.

However, there are few more affordable models that allow this facility and, if you are looking for a cell phone for less than R$ 1,500 with this functionality, the list gets even smaller.

Thinking about it, I separated a list of six smartphones launched at least in the last year and that allow you to pay for purchases by approximation in physical stores. Here, I bring models from the main brands that operate in Brazil and that, of course, can be found for less than R$ 1,500 in our country.

Redmi Note 12 5G

If you are looking for an affordable cell phone to use with contactless payment services, the Redmi Note 12 5G. This is one of the most basic cell phones in Xiaomi’s new mid-range and features an NFC connection to allow the use of digital wallets for payment.

It is important to pay attention, however, to two points. Xiaomi launched two versions of Redmi Note: one with 4G and the other with 5G. Only the version with the new generation connection allows the payment of purchases by approximation.

Another thing to pay attention to is the origin of the device: this feature is only available in some regions of the world. The model sold officially in Brazil has this support, but if you want to import, make sure that the model in question also offers this advantage.

In addition to NFC, Redmi Note 12 5G has a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset and offers a very basic performance, which allows access to social networks or messengers, but it may not be the best option if you want something more advanced, for games or photos, for example.

Its current price range is around R$ 1,400 for the version with 128 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM.

POCO X5

If you want to go for a slightly more advanced model, but stay within the Xiaomi ecosystem, the Poco X5 is a slightly better option. The cell phone also allows for contactless bill payments and has a slightly more attractive set of specifications.

It is worth mentioning that it has the same limitation as the Redmi Note 12 5G in relation to the availability of the function by region, so it is also necessary to make sure of the origin of the device when purchasing.

Its price range currently exceeds R$ 1,500 for a few dozen, but there has been a lot of price variation recently and it has already cost around R$ 1,400 in the last 40 days, so it is worth following the offers for the model.

In addition to NFC, it features the Snapdragon 695 chipset, has options of up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage – which make the device more affordable than the 8 GB / 256 GB variant and has a triple set of rear cameras , with a 48 MP main sensor and a 13 MP front camera

An advantage of Samsung is that, in the Galaxy A24 4G, this feature is not limited to models sold abroad, so if you buy the device in the Brazilian market you can normally use it to pay for your purchases.

Apart from NFC connectivity, the Galaxy A24 4G also offers a MediaTek Helio G99 chip, has 4 GB RAM and internal storage of up to 128 GB. Its set of cameras includes three rear lenses with a 50 MP main and a 13 MP for selfies.

Its current price range is from R$ 1,000 to R$ 1,100 and, currently, this price has been quite stable, but within the expected range for its category.

Samsung Galaxy A34 5G

Still within the Samsung ecosystem, the Samsung Galaxy A34 is a slightly more advanced option than the A24 4G, it already offers a more current mobile network connection and even allows for payment by approach.

Currently, both the version with 6 GB of RAM and the one with 8 GB of RAM are in the same price range — between R$ 1,400 and R$ 1,500 — and both have shown a significant drop in prices in the last 40 days, so perhaps this is a good time to purchase even the most advanced version.

In addition to the features already mentioned, the Galaxy A34 5G features the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset and a set of three rear cameras, with a 48 MP main sensor and a 13 MP front camera.

An advantage of Samsung cell phones — in this case both the Galaxy A24 and the A34 — is that, in addition to the Google Wallet, which is compatible with any Android cell phone that has NFC, it also allows you to pay for purchases using Samsung Wallet, Samsung’s own service.
