3 Easy ways to Connect Your iPhone to TV

The screen of a mobile device is bigger than ever, but sometimes your iPhone or iPad screen is still too small for streaming videos or playing games. Luckily, it is very easy to connect your iPhone to TV  to experience a really big screen.

Connect iPhone to TV wireless

If you wirelessly connect your iPhone to TV, You should use Apple’s AirPlay feature which is the easiest way to do it. It is a built-in feature of your iPhone. Allows you to mirror or stream content from an iPhone or iPad to an AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV, Apple TV, or certain Roku devices.

In order to use AirPlay, it is necessary that the TV and your iPhone or iPad are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Swipe down from the top right of the screen to open the control center on the device. Select the appropriate destination by clicking “AirPlay Mirroring”. All content on the mobile device screen will be reflected on the TV screen.

If you want to send any type of media to the TV,  simply choose the “Share” icon in the “Photos” application. Click “AirPlay” in the pop-up menu and select a destination. Additionally, AirPlay can be used with third-party applications to stream media from your favorite streaming services to TV, including music, podcasts, movies, TV shows, and more.

The difference between Chromecast and other streaming media devices is that it uses Google’s Cast protocol over AirPlay. Although your iPhone or iPad cannot be mirrored to the TV screen via Chromecast, the streaming media can be cast directly from the device to the TV from within the app.

If you often send multimedia content from your phone to the TV, simplify this process by going to “Settings” —> “General” —> “AirPlay and Switching” on your iPhone. Click Automatically to play AirPlay on TV and set it to automatic. If you select “Ask”, you will see a message before sending the multimedia content to the TV. If you are more concerned about security, you can request an AirPlay code before the device can connect with Apple TV.

However, one caveat about this method is: AirPlay video may break or freeze in a very crowded Wi-Fi environment. In most homes, it should work fine, but if you have a problem, a cable maybe your best option.

Connect your iPhone to TV with HDMI

If the adapter type is correct, you can use a cable to connect your iPhone to TV. You will require an HDMI or VGA cable that can be easily connected from the adapter to the compatible jack of the TV. Anyone can do it, so buy the cheapest one. Our guide to choosing cables may help you if you don’t know anything about the required cables.

After deciding on the cable, choose the right adapter for your mobile device. To connect to the TV’s HDMI port, Apple has made a Lightning Digital AV adapter.

Connect the iPhone or iPad to the adapter through the Lightning port, and then connect the adapter to the cable. Hook the cable into the back of the TV. Then you should be able to use the cable to switch the TV input to the corresponding port for viewing the device screen.

When playing TV or movies from streaming services like iTunes or Netflix, even if you try to watch 4K or higher resolution, the maximum output of the adapter is 1080p. Also, note that some games and services cannot be used with the dongle. Any content shared from the device to the TV will have a delay of few seconds, which is not good for games.

The adapter does not require a power source to function, but if you plan to use the device for a long time, you may need to keep it charged. If you want to connect an iPhone or iPad to a charging cable while watching multimedia content, you can use the lighting cable of the adapter.

Connect With a DLNA

Inorder to connect iPhone to TV, if it supports Internet access, it may be compatible with DLNA, which is a common form of streaming media available on products from many different manufacturers. Media purchased through the iTunes Store cannot be used with these applications.

But when it comes to DLNA, you are not limited to iOS devices. For example, some applications see the media stored on other devices (such as your PC) and act as intermediaries to configure the streaming of media from the PC to the TV. Televisions, game consoles, and PCs are the devices that you can stream.

If nothing appears on the TV when you try to use an application, you may need to enable its DLNA features. Find stream from a PC or home server from Internet connection menu on the TV. That is DLNA feature.

Arkuda Digital’s MCPlayer HD is priced at $ 4.99; its free lite version limits you to five videos from a single folder. The free UPNP / DLNA TV Streamer TV provided by iStreamer allows you to share media files and stream them to a smart TV.
